We were there. Happier times.
The retro bus that took us on a tour of the five lakes
The volcanic mountains around
Lake Saiko, (I think)
Varied Tit (Cyanistes varius) at the ticket counter
The Lava forests. (Aokigahara). Grows on the lava outflow. A little creepy, easy to get lost
Lake Sai?
Common Coot in Kawaguchiko
Shinto shrine archway at the edge of the lake
Fugaku lava caves. Fossils and ice inside. Also very cold.
Volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. These pictures reminded me of how vulnerable they are to the elements.
Such a beautiful country. First the awful destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, now this. Heartbreaking. Are the people you know ok?
ReplyDeleteYes they are thanks Kamini. Amazing people.
ReplyDeletegreat writing....
ReplyDeleteYes it was such a marvellous trip, every sight, every event so memorable. Now along with the pictures a reiniscent conversation will make the photos alive, full of energy. These lakes around Fijiyama was a river originally, is'nt it?I did recall the walk we had one morning, beside the lake in one of the photos. There is a freshness everywhere which is truly wonderful.
