Ranthambore NP in 2010 - eBird Checklist and more

eBird Checklist - 22 Apr 2010 - Ranthambore NP - 25 species

It was one of those memorable tiger trips with MNS - we baked in the Rajasthan summer - where I focused on the tigers, and not so much on the birds.

Mr Ramanan was there on that trip, and he got some great photos of tigers and the birds.  I wrote about the tigers here.  But I never did a bird post!

As I moved my historical list into e-bird, I decided to add Mr Ramana's beautiful bird portraits here.

Photo by Mr Ramanan - The Red Headed Vulture - Sarcogyps calvus - seen besides one of the lakes of Ranthambhore.  Definitely a lifer - I had seen very few vultures up until then.  Probably the ones at Kanha before this.

Photo by Mr Ramanan - Great Thick Knee - Esacus recurvirostris - it was a lifer for me, then.  I was so excited seeing this strange looking bird, and of course I had to wonder why it was named so.  It used to be stone plover I think?

Photo by Mr Ramanan -  Jungle Bush Quail - Perdicula asiatica - Another lifer, which I have not seen very often after that trip, either!

Photo by Mr Ramanan - A Grey Francolin that crossed over the jeep tire tracks.

Photo by Mr Ramanan - A White-browed fantail

Photo by Mr Ramanan - A brown rock chat with breakfast

Those were the days my friend.
