Day 32 - dragonflies are migrating

I am impressed with myself.  Day 32 has been reached of daily journalling.  There is something to see and write about everyday.

Pantala dragonflies are migrating

And then there are others that do not migrate, but just emerge with the monsoons.  Like the Green Marsh Hawk.

Orthetrum sabina, the slender skimmer or green marsh hawk.  Seen from my balcony on someone's Tatasky wire...or maybe an ACT internet cable.

Aren't they beautiful?  They all seemed to be resting, sunbathing.

Their translucent wings glistening in the sun.  Their ability to hang like this is goggle-worthy, and for what reason I wondered.

Dragonflies are fascinating insects, quite omnivorous, and with the male and female looking different just to confuse us.  The green Marsh Hawk thankfully - male and female look similar.

Large heads and long bodies, with those filament-like wings.

Dragonflies spend more of their life as larvae than as adults.  Eggs are laid in the water, the larvae live in the water and the adult DFs emerge just to mate and go and lay eggs again, it feels like!

Creatures of the water, they are monsoon beauties for sure.
