July 2012 Valley of Flowers Trek - eBird Trip Report updated

Valley of Flowers Trek - eBird Trip Report

It was not a "birding" trip - it was a trek to see the wild flower meadows of the Valley of Flowers.  Fourteen years ago!

I updated my sightings and pictures on both eBird and iNaturalist and in the process revoked at the lists and photos with "older" eyes.

I found that not only had I seen the Common Rosefinch, I had actually even photographed the Pink-browed Rosefinch!  An extra lifer in retrospect!
Pink-browed rose finch female - ok no pink brow, but browed nevertheless.

Male with the pink brow.  (Carpodacus rodochroa)

I relived the thrill of discovering the Variegated Laughingthrush skulking in the undergrowth, the Restart on the rocks in the Ghangria river, the magpies Yellow- and red-billed, and the Himalayan Bulbul too.

Of course the flowers were something else.  Sorrels and Geraniums, Poppies and Anemone.  Rolling fields and rolling mist, snow, water and mud.
